Japanese Waterstones – Toishi-Ohishi

Product Description

Toishi-Ohishi offer 7 single grit stones and 6 combination stones.

Stone sizes:

• 220 grit – 205x 80x 35mm
• All other single grit stones 205 x 75 x 25mm
• Combination stones are 205 x 75 x 30mm
• Nagura Stone 75 x 25 x 25mm

The width (75mm or over) makes themparticularly useful when honing wide plane blades, knives or cut throat razors. These stones cut quickly.

The 220 & 600 grit stones will require soaking prior to use. However, the rest of the stones are dense and hard enough that they only require asprinkle of water.

The 1000 grit will establish your secondary bevel and the 10,000 grit yields a beautiful final polish.

Toishi-Ohishi sharpeningstones havebeen a particularfavourite of Deneb Pulchalski at Lie-Nielsen Toolworks for over a decade now.

The Nagura(correcting) stoneis used to condition waterstones during use. For natural waterstones, the nagura stonewears away hard particles or contamination in the waterstone, andselectively allows flattening by being rubbed on a high spots on the stone. Another use is to create slurry. Use with Ohishi stones of more than 1000 grit.
